Nerditorial: Free Rezones for Everybody! Woo-HOOOO!!!

It's a Festivus Miracle!

So, I filed an ethics complaint a few days ago against Sam Crawford. It was covered by The Herald and KGMI.

And now the Ethics Commission has responded.

The Ethics Commission finds Councilor Crawford's actions regarding the Birch Bay rezone to be entirely kosher.

And, the Drayton Harbor rezone, too. Apparently.

The Commission has issued an Order of Deficiency on my complaint. Take a look...

...[the]... Whatcom County Code ... specifically allows any council person as well as other public officials, to make applications for a zoning change and states that "Application fees shall not be required..." As such, this action by the Council member in question does not constitute an ethical violation for it is in conformance with the Code.
...

...the above complaint is deficient in that even if all of the allegations are true, it fails to state an ethical violation.
...

You can read the entire document HERE.. (Don't worry, it's only two pages.)

So, Sam Crawford is indeed a Zoning Santa Claus, with the Ethics Commission serving as his Zoning Elves.

Ho, ho, ho.

I'm currently mulling over my options.

I will announce my course of action in response to the Ethics Commission decision tomorrow... on The Joe Show.

Tune in to 930 AM, KBAI, at noon tomorrow to find out more...
